I would want to be a musical prodigie or be extremely gifted vocally. I really like music, but can only play a lackluster trumpet and have zero singing ability.

{Skins} Effy and Freddy

They fuck you up. They don't mean to Effy. But they do.

So I've recently discovered the brilliance that is "Skins". I actually don't know how I first heard of the series, but last Friday I decided to watch my first episode. I found a website with the videos on it and began watching. Little did I know I had actually started in season 3 instead of 1, but luckily the plot apparently started over kind of in season 3. I've finished all the way up through 3x06 so far and it's brillant.  I guess I'm a Effy/Freddy shipper and now and Emily/Naomi fan as well.

This is the moment I fell in love with Freddy & Effy

I don't know exactly why, but I was immediately drawn in to the character of Effy and I can't wait to see her episode and watch her backstory in the previous series. Freddy is just incredibly gorgeous and the lighting in this scene... I don't even know how to describe how amazing it is. I can only think of one other scene in which perhaps the lighting compares (see storeroom kissing in "Imagine Me & You").

This is the moment I finally saw past Emily as a creepy stalker type

And this is the scene where I fell in love with Emily and Naomi

Emily: I know you. I know you Naomi. I know you're lonely. I think you need someone to want you. Well... I do want you... so, be brave... and want me back.
I wasn't pro or against Emily & Naomi until this episode. I figured it would happen but wasn't ready for how amazing it was. You have the adorableness of the note and subsequent transfer to the face, the entirety of the lake scene, the sex conversation, and the leaving. It took Emily finally confessing her feelings and standing up to Naomi that made me really like the character even more. The coloring of the lake scenes was amazing.

Writer's Block: Don't Call It a Comeback

The French term "l'esprit de l'escalier," which translates literally as "the wit of the staircase," refers to those perfect, clever comebacks that you only think of after the fact. What's the best came-too-late comeback you've ever had?

My best friend from childhood just had her second baby shortly after her 21st birthday. When I called to wish her a happy birthday, she told me it wouldn't be that great because she had two kids to take care of. After repeating the story to my mom, she told me I should have said: "You know Brittanie, they have figured out several methods of preventing that now..."

Writer's Block: You Don't Know Me

Our friends don't always know us as well as they think, particularly when it comes to likes and dislikes. Which popular book, movie, band, food, TV show, etc. would your friends be surprised to hear that you don't like?

View 500 Answers

a) Book: While I like to read, I don't really do enough of it so this is kind of hard.
b) Movie: Twilight. Ugh. I guess I'm not alone in my dislike for this movie, but I read 1/3 of the first book and found it only mediocre. I was convinced that seeing the movie would be worth my $8.75. It wasn't.
c) Band: Again a tough one because I'm a song by song person. I guess I'd go with Lady Gaga. She has talent and everything but it doesn't do it for me.
d) Food: Pie. Yep. Not a pie fan.
e) TV Show: Grey's Anatomy. I know lots of people who absolutely L.O.V.E. this show. I don't. It's too dramatic and unrealistic for my taste. I'm sure it's a great show and it gets amazing nielsen ratings but I'd rather watch Bones.
f) Ice cream: Strawberry. I like strawberry poptarts and strawberries but not the icecream flavor.
g) Mint flavored anything is nasty. Peppermints are okay but that is whereI draw the line.

I'll have to think of other stuff. It's 1:49 am. I'm tired.

Icon Overhaul

I'm one of those people who just all of a sudden decides to rock the boat and change everything up so while I didn't upload 15 brand new icons, I changed out 8 or so of them. 15 is not nearly enough!!! But I don't need a paid account so the upheaval's will have to do.

I blame my friend Sarah for making me watch Degrassi: TNG. I'm on Season 2 Ep. 12 already. Why do I do this?

Writer's Block: Get Real

What reality show would you most want to be a contestant on? What would your strategy for winning be?

View 500 Answers

I love challenge shows so my pick would have to be either The Amazing Race or Road Rules. Seeing how I think RR is cancelled, it looks like I'm signing up for Race.  Actually, my roomate and I have plans to sign up once she turns 21 (a requirement of joining).

My strategy to win?

I quote this daily. If you quote these words: "I'm not here to make friends" you are guaranteed making it at least half way through. At least.  People love drama.

Wait. No. I'm a people pleaser so I'd be there to make friends. AND TO WIN!

Bones tonight was great. I'm just confused why they always call him "Mr. Nigel Murray". Why not just "Nigel"?

Writer's Block: Grab and Go

Scenario: For exactly 1 minute, you get access to all the databases of all the intelligence agencies in the world (CIA, FBI, KGB, MI-5, etc). What do you want to find out before time is up and you're caught and jailed forever?

View 503 Answers

Oh trust you me I am finding out as much dirt on everyone I can before my time runs out. In my world, 60 seconds is plent of time. ;) I wanna know who has done time, who is doing who, who got caught doing the dirty and whatever else these databases have on people. Then I would use the last 4 seconds to read my clean record.

My *new* roomate/cousin just said "fuck" like 10 times in the last 3 sentences. She needs to calm herself down.

Writer's Block: Close Encounters of the Celebrity Kind

Have you ever met a celebrity in real life? Who was it and how did your paths cross?

Never done one of these before but why not?

The level of celebrity is hard to define, but thanks to my associations with a programming board here on campus I've gotten to meet a few "celebrities". My favorite to meet and take a picture with was Chris Hansen from NBC's "To Catch a Predator". I'm like weirdly addicted to that show and wish they would bring it back. He spoke at my school and it was intertaining. Afterwards he called our schools newspaper forum and left the message "I'm Chris Hansen. Why don't you have a seat?" I've also gotten my picture with Comedian Jeff Dye, Morgan Spurlock, Will Freaking Ferrel,  and some others.

I should update about my life. I'll do that later. Back to Arrested Development.

It's all one big freakout after another

So after two of the most trying weeks of my life, I take great satisfaction in knowing it's almost over. In addition to the homework, the readings, and the tests of normal academia I've been planning a GIGANTIC event for my campus. We are partnering up "celebrities" on campus and matching them with "professional" dancers and they are performing tomorrow night. It's basically our own little rip off of "Dancing with the Stars" but local and with that home-grown taste. Now I've planned a hundred events or more and this is by far the most stressful one of my life. Luckily everyone has been amazing.

However my body today was all "Fuck you! I'm gonna get sick!". I kind of knew it was bound to happen and I feel like I've been bitchslapped by the germs... I came home this afternoon to try to take a nap before dress rehersal and just as I laid down, the phone rang asking for an interview for the paper. Fine. Close my eyes and the neighbors decide it's time to re-roof the house. F.M.L. So I just watched tv instead.

God I so want to get drunk on Friday. But I can't. Stupid 8 am shift.

So cry me a river.

Honestly, I had no idea how long it's been since I had cried but all I knew for certain was that it had been a very long time. There has been so much stress in my life recently with the roomate situation, classes, work, special projects, trying to be everything for everyone, etc that I knew if I could just cry it all out, I would feel so much better. The only trouble being, I could not seem to shed a tear and really that just frustrated me more than everything. But I did it and I really do feel better!!!

My roomate agreed that we needed to cry it out. She confided in me that the last scene in "Never Been Kissed" always gets to her. Lucky us, Wal-Mart had the movie on sale for $4 so we purchased it and watched it tonight. But, no luck. My left eye was a little damp, but no real tears shed. So then I moved on to the Halmark adaptaion of Mitch Albom's "The Five People you meet in Heaven". The cut below is a summary of the story, without any major spoilers.

To avoid any plot spoilery besides what is behind the cut,  I'll just say that everyone should either read the book or watch the movie. It's amazing.  Yep that's it. My whole post. I just needed to get that out there. Have a good rest of your day.

401 Grape Water

So I've compiled a list of my favorite songs. Like ever. I have no idea why there are twelve of them. And I do call them collectively my "401 Grape Water" playlist. The name is a weird story. About 3 years ago I worked at a day camp and we were playing a game of telephone. The starting word was “Camp Emergency Action Plan” and I honestly have no idea but my bunch of bright 7 year olds ended up with “401 Grape Water”. It has nothing to do with my favorite songs at all but I think it’s a pretty B.A. title for a playlist.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall

A) Loved the movie. Wasn't even aware there were interviews. How bad is that right? So when [info]wowsugarpuss_ posted her Top 5 of everything in 2008, I immediately clicked it over to youtube to locate a Kristen Bell and Russell Brand interview. Needless to say I hit gold. *There is some strong sexual content so be advised*

Interviewer: Did you guys have a lot of fun improving and ripping off of eachother?
KBell: Nu-uh *accompanied by a head shake*
RBrand: Not really, it's just like, to improvise really well you need to be working with an actress with some talent, not some harpie, dragged out of the gutter in Detroit, trotted out on some sub-Buffy bit of crap and given a lucky break on 'Hero"(s) ... I can't work like that.
KB: You shouldn't have to
RB: I'm from England. I know how to do good acting. Like Shakespeare.
